It’s happening!

After years of half-thinking about it and intending but never doing, I have done – I’m taking Meridian Six on a road trip into the real world, to not one, but TWO conventions.

Coco Comic Con will take place in Lancaster, UK on April 6th 2024, and InkBlot Indie Comic Festival will take place in Nottingham, UK on May 18th 2024!

I’m unbelievably excited to finally be getting my work out there, off the internet, into physical print, and into the real hands of (hopefully) some real people. I’ve been busy in the time between my last burst of activity on here; busy getting new things ready. And, over the past few weeks, busy getting things ready for these conventions…

For those interested, this is the kind of inventory I’ll likely have at these cons:

  • Cold Reset #1-3 in beautiful professional physical print.
  • Cold Reset #4.1 in slightly less beautiful physical print (it’s a convention-exclusive preview issue with the first 8 pages of Cold Reset: The Emerald Fist.)
  • A range of good quality prints, with designs featuring the brand new logo (info below on the logo!), a few promos for Cold Reset #4, and a few other promos for The Black Mist #1!
  • Stickers with some brand new designs, as well as some classic ones.
  • Badges with some of the same designs plus one or two new ones.

This is just my base loadout. If all goes well, I will hopefully have the first chapter of The Black Mist wrapped up and printed too! It’ll definitely be done by InkBlot, but might NOT be done by Coco. I’m working hard to sort it though.

THE NEW LOGO!

When these conventions turned from possibilities into likelihoods, I saw the need to have a full rebrand of Meridian Six, with a fully unique logo, designed by an artist, rather than just some modified stock font or something. I work in Photoshop, with pixels, and I needed someone who is proficient in Illustrator, with vectors…

I enlisted the help of logo designer Wappenschmied, well known in the Folk Metal community, which I’ve been an avid part of for almost two decades. I’ve seen his work pop up time and time again, designing logos for bands I’ve heard, bands I actively listen to, and bands I’m discovering every day. His roots go deep in this community. It made total sense to me to commission his skills for this job, and give the poor guy a break from making logos for bands.

Here is the brand new logo for Meridian Six!

I’m so pleased with how it turned out, and I’m sticking it on literally everything in preparation for these conventions – it’s been a mad scramble the past 2 weeks to get all the stock I need, and finding out the hard way I don’t have many designs I like for prints or stickers, so having to draw NEW artwork just for these cons, all while hoping to polish off the last couple pages of The Black Mist chapter 1 to maybe get that printed in time… ???

Time will tell how it turns out – I’m confident! And I’m very excited to get some new eyes on my work!

If you met me at a con and made your way here, and you’re reading this right now, thanks very much for taking the time to check out my site, I hope you like what you see, and I’ll catch you at another one soon.
